STILL I SMILE
Privacy Policy
Last updated August 29, 2026
Still I Smile is designed to process and store your moments privately on your device.
Face data and camera images
The app uses the front camera only when you start a smile challenge. Google ML Kit Face Detection processes live camera frames on the device to determine whether a face is present and to produce a smile-probability value. Still I Smile does not create or collect a face template, face geometry, facial landmarks, a faceprint, or an identity, and it does not use face recognition. The face-present result and smile-probability value exist temporarily in memory during the active camera session and are discarded when the session ends. They are not written to storage or retained.
If you choose to capture and save a smile moment, the resulting photograph may contain your face. That photograph, an optional note, capture date, and selected filter name are stored only in the app's private local storage on your device. A captured photograph is not used for face recognition or to create a face template.
Use of face data
Face detection and smile probability are used solely to show challenge guidance, measure progress toward the five-second smile challenge, and trigger automatic photo capture when the challenge is completed. Face data is not used to identify or authenticate you, build a profile, infer health status, diagnose a condition, advertise to you, or make medical or emotional conclusions about you.
Data collection and sharing
Still I Smile does not create accounts, use advertising or tracking SDKs, upload live camera frames or saved photographs to the developer's servers, or share face data or app content with third parties. Live analysis is performed locally by the Google ML Kit Face Detection software included in the app. No face data is sent to Google or any other third party by Still I Smile. Still I Smile has no server or cloud database for face data.
Your operating system may include app data in a device backup according to your device and backup settings. That backup is controlled by the operating-system provider, not by Still I Smile.
Retention and deletion
Live camera frames, the face-present result, and the smile-probability value are retained only in memory during the active camera session and are discarded when processing completes or the session ends. They are never saved by Still I Smile.
A photograph you intentionally save remains in private local storage until you permanently delete that moment inside the app or uninstall the app. Deleting a moment removes its photograph and associated note, date, and filter information. Copies in an operating-system device backup are governed by that provider's backup and deletion controls.
Camera permission and your choices
You can deny or revoke camera access in device settings. Face and smile processing occurs only while you have opened the camera challenge. You can use the manual Take button, and saving the resulting smile moment remains your choice.
Children
The app is not directed specifically at children and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone.
Changes to this policy
If the app's data practices change, this policy will be updated before the changed version is released. The latest revision date will always appear at the top of this page.
